Nir Z is a highly in demand, many time CMA nominated, first call drummer in Nashville. Nir is formerly from New York, and born in Israel. He replaced Phil Collins in the spring of 1997 with Genesis, he played on their last album Calling All Stations and then toured with Genesis for their 1997-1998 World tour.
Gary Lunn recommended Nir Z to Joe Vana in 2020…he joined the Missing Toys…what a brilliant connection. Nir is like a well oiled glove….a creative yet sublime player…a Prog Rock Legend, yet brings a deep Jazz influence to the band as well. Nir and Gary are absolutely the engine and power plant of the Toys, they never cease to amaze! The most potent rhythm section in modern music for sure!
Nir was also the primary drummer for John Mayers breakout Record “Room for Squares”, and for Chris Cornell’s multi platinum Record “Carry On”. He has played on 1000’s of major recordings and is one of the most successful and respected studio drummers in music history.
He has been, for many years, Blake Shelton’s session drummer for many of his Gold/Platinum selling Records.
Some other artists Nir has worked extensively for are JellyRoll, Florida Georgia Line, Kelsea Ballerini, Trace Adkins, Lee Brice, Rita Wilson, Dan and Shay, Toby Mac, Hunter Hayes, John Oates, Tracy Lawrence, The Judds, Wynonna, Jason Mraz and Joss Stone to name but a few.
